A well-known mathematician was on his way to a mountainous area when he came across a shepherd with a large flock of sheep. The flock of lambs and furry sheep in the herd were very pleasant to look at. When he saw them, he was amazed. A desire arose in his mind to ‘raise and raise a lamb anyway.’ Then he went to the shepherd and requested, “boy! I want to buy one of your sheep, tell me how much it will cost.”
The shepherd stared at the scientist. A minute later he easily concluded, “My sheep are not for sale.” But the scientist has to raise a sheep! He demonized the sheep in various ways; begged but to no avail because the shepherd had no desire to sell the sheep! Eventually, the mathematician came up with an idea. He said to the shepherd, “Look, Babu! I do not count the sheep in your flock one by one, but I will tell you exactly how many sheep you have. And if the number I say is right, you will have to give me a sheep as a reward for my hard work. Tell me, right?” He asked. The shepherd did not like the bet at all. However, he agreed to the bet.
Immediately the mathematician pulled a computer out of his bag. In it, he looked for a satellite image of the area. Many of the sheep there counted the computer. “These sheep are a total of one hundred and four,” he calculated. “What you said is true!” The shepherd confessed- “… take a sheep out of this flock.” The scientist was very happy. Immediately go into the herd and choose a creature that is bold and strong. Once looked at the shepherd and picked up on his shoulders what he had chosen, just as he had picked up the lamb.
He wanted it to be easy – he weighed too much! “Is it a little too hard to carry?” Meanwhile, the shepherd cried out from behind ” sir! Wait a minute! I have a bet to make with you too. I guess your profession is something of my own. If my imagination is correct then, you must give me back the life you won.” The mathematician laughed at the shepherd’s words. It’s a pity the house can’t achieve anything except wasting time he thought. Upstairs ” Well … you’re just right. But – tell me who?” Said with peaceful smiling. Immediately the shepherd said: “You are a mathematician!” The mathematician was stunned for a moment by this unexpected answer. After a minute he calmed down and inquired How did you know…?” Asked.
“Very easy! You looked at the computer, and the sheep said many things for sure. which meant ‘they do the math well’. Your profession is something — you can do calculations in the air, but not on earth — that means you should be a mathematician! ” Said. The mathematician’s eyes turned to the shepherd’s rude reasoning. His pride subsided. Shame on you!
