The Mahabharata is an epic poem and one of the most important texts in Hinduism. It tells the story of the Kurukshetra War, a great battle fought between two branches of a royal family, the Kauravas and the Pandavas. The main characters of the Mahabharata include:

Krishna – a divine avatar of the god Vishnu and a close friend and advisor to the Pandavas.

Arjuna – the third Pandava brother and a skilled archer and warrior.

Yudhishthira – the eldest Pandava brother and the rightful heir to the throne.

Bhima – the second Pandava brother and a powerful warrior known for his great strength.

Nakula and Sahadeva – the youngest Pandava brothers and twins known for their skills in horseback riding and swordsmanship.

Duryodhana – the eldest of the Kauravas and the main antagonist of the Mahabharata.

Draupadi – the wife of the five Pandava brothers and a central figure in the story.

Karna – a warrior and friend of Duryodhana who is later revealed to be the eldest Pandava brother’s half-brother.

Bhishma – the respected patriarch of the Kuru dynasty and a mentor to both the Kauravas and Pandavas.

Vidura – the half-brother of Dhritarashtra and a wise advisor to the Pandavas.
